The Durban BCI is a quarterly, survey-based measure developed through collaboration between the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, eThekwini Municipality, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. It summarises the confidence of business leaders operating in the metro and provides a quick, comparable signal of improving or weakening business conditions. The index ranges from 0 (extreme lack of confidence) to 100 (extreme confidence), with 50 as the neutral midpoint.
